FIFA, Keep the 5 Substitutions Forever
One of the only good things about the pandemic
Historically, football rules have been slow to change. When a rule is changed, the whole game changes.
Due to the pandemic and the tight game schedule, FIFA wisely made the decision to temporarily allow an increase in the number of substitutions in a game. After all, the resumption of football requires that the same amount of games scheduled for a season take place in less time. There will certainly be greater wear and tear on the players.
Nobody even noticed
As I said, a rule changes, the game changes. Football coaches have not yet realized the possibilities.
Imagine, at 25 minutes of final time, putting 5 new players rested in the attack, against a tired defense. Or change the strategy defensively, holding a positive result. You can change almost 50% of the team. But so far we haven’t seen the coaches make this an epic tactical victory.
Probably the first strategy genius who uses this to his advantage will be imitated by others.
16 holders
Imagine a team that doesn’t have 11, but 16 main players. Those most advanced in their careers, who cannot play 90 minutes at a high level, can contribute in 30 minutes, or 45. It depends on your physical condition. The younger ones will have more opportunities to play. Fans will be able to see the luck of a difficult match being changed in an instant. If any description of the coach was mistaken in the beginning, it can be modified.
Many benefits
There are so many benefits that I find it impossible to go back. FIFA, for the sake of football, keep these 5 substitutions forever.
