Why Cristiano Ronaldo is (Much) Better Than Messi

I wasn’t going to write, but I got this picture from a colleague. It says it all.

OK. They are two indisputable geniuses. Always candidates to the best player of the year by FIFA.

But I won’t talk about the similarities. I’ll talk about what sets them apart.

It is by defending the colors of their respective countries that they are tested. Not in clubs. Not surrounded by soccer superstars with millionaire salaries.

Never let a win get to your head or a loss get to your heart.

I have been following their careers. When playing for the national team of their countries, Cristiano Ronaldo does exactly what the phrase says; Messi seems to do the opposite.

When his teams concede a goal early in the match, Messi lowers his head. He seems to go into depression. He infects the rest of the team. And disappear from the game.

Cristiano Ronaldo raises his head. Fight to the end. Leads. It infects the team too, but in a positive way.

That’s what happened recently in the game between Portugal and Ireland. CR7 headed twice because he wasn’t looking down. Defeat did not reach his heart.

Cristiano Ronaldo is better than Messi.

It’s what I think.

What do you think? Leave your opinion in the comments.

Just because I see people doing this recently and I think it’s a nice gesture, a huge thanks to this random selection of followers for joining my little Medium bandwagon: Rocco Pendola, Mathias Barra, Joan O'Donnell, Casey Botticello, Gillian Sisley, Judith Pascarella, John Gruber, Karen Banes, Teodora Maksimova, Walter Adamson and to everyone else that has joined recently. See you for the next one :)
